Pioneering the Golden West

Among the first establishments of early California towns were the jail, the courthouse, the cemetery – and the local Masonic hall.

Masons played a major role in the settling of California towns. They devoted the same sense of pride and ownership to the fraternity, reflected in the finely crafted regalia and working tools from Freemasonry’s earliest days in California.
